Warning Lady Post...

Koen still has to follow me around everywhere. Yes even into the restroom when I am you know using it. Typically this is not such a big deal, but at certain times of the month I have to well take care of lady stuff. I try to hurry into the bathroom and take care of business before he notices I'm gone. However if he follows me in I try to be discreet and distract him from me.

I thought I was doing really well until I was trying to encourage him to wear big boy under ware by saying big boys don't wear diapers. He looked at me and said Momma wears a diapers. Sure Toby and Kai were sitting right there. Great now everyone thinks I'm not toilet trained.

I guess I will have to resort to locking the door and listening to him bang and scream on the other side.

Taking after dad

I know I have yet to post about Halloween. Who knows when I will get around to it. That was two weeks ago, and this happened only four days ago. Toby and I decided to enjoy a nice Saturday afternoon where we did not have to work on our basement (maybe another post about that). We have been putting this activity off for a long time. I have not done it since I started trying to have kids 8 years ago. We went and found an easy route to take the boys climbing on. My climbing shoes are 10 years old, and they look brand new (how sad is that). We had a great time and everyone climbed a bit. Maybe we can get some more climbing in before the ice comes and dad is off climbing that (sorry but the boys and I are not that advanced).

Toby was very patient with both boys. They loved placing his gear in the rocks while he got things set up. I rocked as a belayer, even if that is just my opinion. I was even impressed with some of my amazing moves on the rock. I think all boys wished we had more time to climb a bit more.

Get the soap out

Last night Kai, Koen, & I were driving to pick up our babysitter for the evening. Unfortuanly we got stuck in some very bad traffic. I told Kai that I should have gotten off the freeway because it looked like there was an accident. When I announce that we are going to be here a while he yells out "Dang it" after he pauses for a few seconds he then continued with "I mean Damn it". I thought for a second did I just hear him correctly? So I ask what was that you said. He then repeated it. I had to keep myself from laughing at his first cuss word. I was very impressed with how correctly he had used it at such an appropiate time. Don't worry I then went on and told him that this was not a good word to use. I had to ask him where he had heard this incase I needed to watch my language around the kids. However later that night Toby let it slip, so I know it was not me.

Time for a new do

Over the past few weeks Koen has been mistaken for a girl a few to many times. I usually let it slide when someone says what a cute girl, but this past week it was taken to far. Koen was called princess. The odd thing about this is he is usually dressed in very boyish clothing. However when he was called princess he was in his Halloween costume, no he was not a princess he was Thomas. What little girl would want to be Thomas. I think it is time for a hair cut. Oh I will miss the cute curls that are part of his personality. I think it will be more of a trim than a cut. I'm getting sad as I type this. Just so stinking cute.

Koen

I never thought I would say this, but tonight I had to tell Koen not to put hot dogs in his eyes.

Amazing

Kai has been enjoying school so much. I have loved seeing his progress day to day. My favorite thing has been watching him learn to read. It has been amazing to sit with him and watch him sound out words. When he puts all of the sounds together I love seeing his eyes light up knowing that he just read a word. Every night before he falls asleep he looks at his dad's old Garfield comic books and practices his reading.

Bad Hair

Before I forget this I wanted to write it down. When Kai was two-years-old he attended day-care while Toby and I worked. Most of the employees would wear their hair in pony tails. Kai really became attached to this look. Anytime I would wear my hair down he would start crying telling me that my hair looked bad. To get his approval I had to pull my hear back into a pony tail. Maybe this is why I typically have my hair pulled back. I'm afraid that he will burst into tears and yell that my hair looks bad.
